NUTRITION POLICY
To comply with a federal mandate, the Board of Education has adopted a policy addressing student Wellness and Nutrition. (Refer to the school website - Policy #3542.1). The policy is based on the Federal Government’s new nutritional standards that were created to promote and protect children’s health. The policy impacts what can be served in school. The administration has worked with the PTO to select foods that meet the nutritional standards. With that in mind, please adhere to the following:
1. No food or beverage items listing sugar in any form as the first ingredient is
allowed.
2. All forms of candy may not be distributed.
3. No icing/frosting on any homemade nor store bought snacks.
4. Store bought cupcakes, donuts and other similar items may not be distributed.
5. Any item that lists the following nutritional data may not be distributed:
a. No more than 8 grams of total fat per serving.
b. No more than 2 grams of saturated fat per serving.
6. All beverages shall not exceed 12 ounces except for water or milk containing
